Aspendos Amphitheater was built by Xenon and his two brothers Curtius Chrispinus and Curtius Auscipatus in the period of the Emperor Antonius Pius (138-164) with capacity for 15000 people, and is well-known because of its marvelous acoustic. By the years, Aspendos amphitheater has survived many earthquakes, and today he still stand with its astonishing architecture. Every year, the annual festival of opera and ballet is held here, where International artists are held magnificent concerts where you can feel how the theater combines historical values with artistic sound.

Until the 1930s the amphitheater was badly neglected, but with help of the Mustafa Kemal Ataturk (who was a patron of the arts and sensitive about the historical and cultural values of the country), Aspendos amphitheater was taken under protection of the state and restored.
